Video Editing Is In My Blood
In case you didn’t know, I’m an editor in every aspect. From photo editing to literature editing to video editing, I’ve done it all. Video editing, however, is what stuck with me. So today, I’m sharing some of my video editing portfolio! Expect lots of Video Star transition edits!

I’ve been video editing for years now, starting with the niche CuteCut and eventually transferring to CapCut, Video Star, and more recently, After Effects. My editing style, along with my software, has changed over the years, but I always find my way back to my beloved transition edits. Nowadays, you don’t see transition edits much anymore, especially on TikTok, but I refuse to let the art die out!
#BringBackTransitionEdits

If you were active in the Instagram editing community between 2015 and 2018, you, too, remember that we used to be a proper country. Everyone was making transition edits, and they were AMAZING! And, funny enough, I only make edits for fun, not for posting. So while there’s no active handle where you can find my video edits, do feel free to look me up on TikTok and Instagram @/stupldhoe.

The Edits
Nicki Minaj #1
File Name: beezinthetrap
Date Created: 2021
Software: Video Star
Audio: chill freestlye by Playboi Carti
Media: Beez In The Trap MV
We’re starting with easily one of my favorite edits I’ve ever made. I’m not sure what style this would be considered, but for the sake of a proper category, this is a glitch edit. I made this edit a long time ago, circa 2021, and I’m still so proud of it. Also, the fact that I made this on Video Star speaks volumes! I had a lot of fun making this; I can even recall the day I did. It’s pretty clearly an edit of Nicki Minaj and 2 Chainz’s Beez In The Trap music video, a song I knew bar-for-bar at an age far too young.
The clips used are good, and the audio in use is catchy. As for the transitions, other than that last transition, I think they’re pretty good. For a beginner at the glitch style, I’d say I did well for myself. Overall? I’ll give it an 8/10 because I can be humble.
Devi Vishwakumar #1
File Name: devi 1
Date Created: 2023
Software: Video Star
Audio: Blah Blah Blah by Kesha ft. 3OH!3
Media: Never Have I Ever TV Show
I made this one right after watching the final season of Never Have I Ever, and I like this one! Devi Vishwakumar is a character I love dearly, and combining her with Kesha & 3OH!3’s Blah Blah Blah was a power move. I love a good transition edit, and while this could’ve been a bit smoother, it’s well done. Also, the quality of this edit is very HD for a Video Star edit. I deserve 10s, but I rate it a 7.5/10.
Ella Thomas
File Name: ella love island
Date Created: 2023
Software: Video Star
Audio: Whiplash by NCT 127
Media: @/ellathomas on Instagram
Ella Thomas, my queenie from Love Island UK Season 10. That was a VERY good season of television, but that’s beside the point. The audio—now that’s important. I used Whiplash by NCT 127, a great f*cking song! Transition-wise, I got lazy and reused one at the end, but it could be worse. That photo spiral zoom-out transition is kinda weird, and if you couldn’t tell, it was my first time using it. That being said, it’s not awful. The transitions are also on beat, a vital part of a good edit. I’ll give this one a 6.5/10.
Hanna Marin
File Name: hanna marin
Date Created: 2021/2022
Software: Video Star
Audio: Unlock It by Charli XCX ft. Kim Petras & Jay Park
Media: Pretty Little Liars TV Show
This edit was part of a collection I had going on. The other edits aren’t included in this post, but there’s a common theme of glowy pink flashes and a white background. I love the transitions in this one; they’re very cute and bouncy. Hanna Marin will forever be my favorite liar, and I think I did her justice in this edit. The audio is cutesy as well; I love this one! It’s so satisfying. 7/10.
Jensoo
File Name: jensoo
Date Created: February 28, 2022
Software: Video Star
Audio: BLEACH by BROCKHAMPTON
Media: BLACKPINK 2022 Welcoming Collection
I made this edit in 2022, and years later, it’s… not bad…but not good. It’s another softer aesthetic edit, evident in the coloring, transitions, and audio choice. And it’s another K-pop-related edit, featuring Jisoo and Jennie (Jens00) of BLACKPINK. I’m pretty sure this was either a remake or was heavily inspired by an Ariana Grande edit. Sadly, I can’t find the original, but theirs was much better. The cube transition was hard; I remember struggling for hours, but I managed. I could’ve used more motion blur and maybe edited the graphs of some of the transitions, but I like the effort. 5/10.
Jj Maybank
File Name: jj
Date Created: July 26, 2023
Software: Video Star
Audio: London Bridge by Fergie
Media: Outer Banks TV Show
This is a newer edit that’s part of another collection. I made similar edits of other Outer Banks characters, and I’d say Jj’s is the best. TikTok-style editing heavily inspired this, but I’m a transition editor at heart, so I had to mix the two styles. I like the audio and how the edit ends. The glitch-out effect was very, very fun and low-key difficult to do. This is pretty darn good! 7.9/10.
Monet De Haan #1
File Name: monetdehaan
Date Created: July 16, 2022
Software: Video Star
Audio: Best Mistake by Ariana Grande ft. Big Sean
Media: Gossip Girl (2021) TV Show
Here’s another edit made in 2022. This was inspired by feundz on Instagram. They’re genuinely one of my favorite Instagram editors ever. Unlike their use of After Effects, I managed to use Video Star. And as you can tell, my Video Star transition edits are amazing.
Along with the transitions, the audio is so, so, so good! My transitions aren’t half bad either. I’ve always found that glitchy edits are harder to do, but I usually deliver an alright attempt. Monet De Haan was a great character to edit. The scenes alone would make this edit a 10/10, but I’ll give it a 7/10.
#RIPGossipGirlReboot
Ariana Grande #1
File Name: positions
Date Created: 2022
Software: Video Star
Audio: SAD B!TCH by CLIP
Media: positions MV
Funny, an Ariana Grande edit right after an Ariana Grande audio. I used clips from the positions music video (an era the world took for granted), and I like this one. It’s another attempt at the glitchy-ish editing style, and it’s cute. My friend said she liked this one when I first shared it, and I can see why. The transitions are almost too smooth, and I think my clip choices were perfect. Video Star can surprise you with the features! Giving this one a rating of 8/10.
Bellyjere
File Name: westcoastlove
Date Created: June/July 2022
Software: Video Star
Audio: West Coast Love by Emotional Oranges
Media: The Summer I Turned Pretty TV Show
I made this edit the summer The Summer I Turned Pretty premiered, and boy was a time had. Belly and Jeremiah are the better pairing, and my edit certainly proves that. Words cannot describe how obsessed I was with this ship. Imagine my dismay when finding out they weren’t the endgame! That sh*t ruined my whole summer. Since learning that, I’ve been boycotting The Summer I Turned Pretty because the mere thought of it pisses me off.
That being said, the edit is great—that I know. The audio choice is perfect, the transitions are perfect. I impressed the h*ll out of myself while I was making this. And years later, I cannot for the life of me recreate this edit. Something different was in the air that summer and my love for Bellyjere (Belly and Jeremiah) had no bounds. But I’ve since been crushed by the reality of The Summer I Turned Pretty, and because of that, I will never be able to recapture the essence of this edit.
This edit is easily a 10/10. Now, let me move on to the last edit before I turn this into a rant. Expect a blog solely for ranting about The Summer I Turned Pretty in the future!
Zounia #1
Another remake of an edit I cannot locate. Zounia is so pretty, so editing her was a no-brainer. Once again, Kesha’s song is featured. And for a remake edit, this is cute! My attempt is super smooth, my picture choices are amazing, and the audio is great. It even has a smooth loop! This edit is a 7/10.
Until Next Time
And that wraps up my first video editing showcase. I was biased throughout this post, and I have no regrets about that. I’m a great editor; truly an unstoppable talent. I’m sure you all think the same, so don’t hesitate to validate me in the comments. I had fun looking back at old Video Star transition edits—it’s a great pastime. Hopefully, this has reached editors alike, and maybe you’ve been inspired. More editing archive posts will be coming in the future, and as always, thanks for reading!
