How I’ve Been: December 2024

Merry Christmas!

It’s December 23rd, the time of writing this, and Christmas Day, the time of posting, so… Merry Christmas! It’s finally here, the favorite day of those 12 years old and younger. The little kids who are beyond excited to open their presents. But I’m not here to talk about Christmas. I’m here to share my monthly update, the second edition and last one of 2024. Can you believe it’s about to be 2025? A decade since 2015…wow.

How I’ve Been…

But as for how I’ve been…I’ve been fine. Fine but exhausted. Exhausted with working, to be frank. I work Christmas Eve (so today’s yesterday), and I so badly wish it were my last day. My job isn’t awful; it’s doable and pays well, but I simply don’t want to do it anymore! I’m grateful to have the job, of course. According to the masses, the job market is awful right now (something I refuse to relate to), so I guess I can’t really complain. I’m just not built to be in the workforce in the traditional sense. And I’ll never be happy in life if I have to clock in every day.

Enough about work, though; I’m excited about the new year! I’m ending 2024 on a positive note, despite my previous complaints, and I know 2025 will be a great year for me. I have so, so, so much planned for the year, and something tells me this will be my best year yet. Optimism truly is my superpower.

Musicals Are Lifechanging

This is an awful segue, but I recently watched Chicago (2002), and my life has truly been changed for the better. We Both Reached for the Gun was what had me interested at first; the song is so damn good, and the movie as a whole was even better. I’ve been streaming the soundtrack for a few days straight now, and I’m due for another rewatch. I love media. I do.

Something else I’ve been obsessed with is Wicked, more specifically the entire What is This Feeling? sequence. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are so talented it hurts. Wicked was a good film as well, and while I have no prior connection to Wicked like your typical theatre kid, that movie made me pretty emotional at times. To my theatre kids out there, you are valid!

Shameless Letterboxd plug since I’m talking about films.

These Ladybugs Are Everywhere

I can’t stomach the close-up of a ladybug, so here we are.

Another awful segue, but I’ve been seeing mad ladybugs recently. My mom reminded me to write about this, and as I’m reflecting, it’s been wild. Within like 1-2 weeks, I saw 3 ladybugs. One was in our home, the second I saw grabbing my DoorDash delivery, and the 3rd was literally above my head while in a car. If you know me personally, you know that I have an irrational fear of bugs and spiders, so I was scared more than anything throughout these interactions. But I’m an intuitive person, so I know these ladybugs are a good omen. Like I said… optimism is my superpower!

Okay, Bye Now

Honestly, I don’t want to write anymore. I’m tired, hungry, and suffering from a sinus headache. This is the last blog post of the year, and it’s a shame I didn’t have anything more planned but, oh well. I’ll be ending this post here, so…Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Kwanzaa to the respective celebrators! As always, thank you for reading this post to the end. Your reads are cherished, and I’m excited to share more content in the upcoming year. 2025 is going to be a good one, trust me on that.
